00060 2006-03-20 00:52:10zeeniacThe Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheel is carried by pilgrims. It has inscribed on it the mantra 'Om Mani Padme Hum', which is an invocation to Chenrezig, the embodiment of Compassion. The mantra is also printed in thousands, on paper inside the body of the wheel. My Grandmother and her friends carry these wheels when on pilgrimage. They turn the wheel to invoke the mantra to receive the dharma of the Buddha. When they are not on pilgrimage, these wheels sit on a shrine in their homes.

00035 2006-03-16 15:39:42dariaI'm still fascinated by this paper-based diary, which helps me not to forget the various, complicated lectures, meetings and other appointments that I have to do. I carry this small, not-very-interesting-looking thing with me all the time. For several months, I tried to use my multi-functioning mobile phone as my scheduler instead of this boring-looking diary, but the fact that I have to keep deleting past schedule which I wanted to leave there made me pretty annoyed. So I decided to go back to my old system. Isn't it nice to see the pattern of my filling in the space? It looks like I was trying hard to find some space in my own time!
00034 2006-03-16 13:32:00toffykuBroad Bean
"La Galette des Rois" (means King pastry) is a French round pastry to celebrate the Epiphany in Christian calendar. In France this pastry is sold everywhere in early January and it is a seasonal tradition to eat this pastry with family or friends. In this pastry there is a little ceramic doll or some figure called gle feveh (means broad bean originally because in old days a broad bean was used instead of a ceramic item). This ceramic item is a lucky symbol, and if you get a piece with, you are the king! Well, one day I almost broke my front teeth but I happened to be that lucky person. Therefore I got this little white ceramic piece which I didnft know what to do with it after but I didnft feel like to throw my lucky symbol away immediately (as I was lucky enough not to broke my front teeth even I bit the hard ceramic) so I put it in my purse as a kind of my usual provisional solution,so to speak. However, since then this ceramic piece lives in my purse! In Japan we do not have this seasonal tradition of course, but recent years I started to see this pastry in showcases at some of the pastry stores in Tokyo. The filling of the pastry is almond cream so in order to show you the size of the ceramic I took a picture with an almond.
00033 2006-03-16 09:20:56JJJSince my daughter had started walking, she became very mobile. Since she started running around(!), she became even more mobile, and it's sometimes "too mobile" for the parents!

00023 2006-03-15 02:48:18cooldaisySpeaking of carrying something with me everyday,as a mobile item...hm..How can i forget to mention this two things:Who says DIGITAL is superior to analogue stuff?!They are both eually important in my daily life!

1-diary
*Obviously it has more capacity than my brain at
this moment. Keeps every thing in details that
i can hardly remember at all!

2-USB Drive (flash memory)
*It goes without saying that this stuff is so convenient when you wanna pass some files to your colleagues nearby but your company network sucks. Just put the files in it and run to his/her desk!
Or alternatively, you can carry your work back with it,though i don't think it is a good idea. Not for your company secret concern, but for your health's good.^^
00022 2006-03-15 02:24:26cooldaisySince i am a heavy sufferer from Hay Fever.
Every year during the pollen season in Japan,i gotta carry these medicines with me and take them after meals.

Trust me, you won't like it much. It makes you feel so sleepy and your boss will think you are lazy at work.haha.

00019 2006-03-14 23:14:16BenBeing mobile at this time of the year in the UK means wrapping up warmly in thick coats. We also have many bridges and this picture is quite a new one, built for pedestrians to cross the river, especially when it's too cold to go the long way around. The bridge is named after Pero, a famous African servant who was brought here as a slave in 1783, and recognises how people taken from their native countries (forced to become mobile?) have, in the 200 years since, contributed massively to UK culture.
00018 2006-03-14 11:41:18yumibBeer Holders:
We carry beer holders almost everywhere we go, such as beach, golf club, yacht club, HASH running, parties at friends, even restaurants. Cold beer is crucial in this hot weather (Solomon Islands), I think.

00015 2006-03-13 17:11:10miiyaMobile-size sweets are popular in Japan, aren't they? I bought something or other in convenience stores or station stalls day after day... They must have me fat...
00014 2006-03-13 11:02:02yumibBetel Nut:
Betel nut is one of the most important "mobile" things for islanders in Micronesia, Solomon Islands, etc. They chew this nut sometimes with leaves, coral powder (lime) or chewing tobacco. This is like a cigarette or alcohol for them as it dulls senses.
00013 2006-03-13 07:31:06iidaPersonal seal and its case(with ink pad).
